You'll love this homemade Russian salad dressing from scratch.

I offer several homemade condiment recipes and you can choose which masterpiece you want to call your own.

Homemade Russian Salad Dressing

No cooking required.

1 cup vinegar
1 cup white sugar
1 cup Mazola oil
1 large onion, finely chopped

1-1/2 cups homemade chili sauce
paprika and salt to taste

Blend together and store in the refrigerator in a container with a tight fitting lid. Makes approximately 1 quart.

Here's another version.

3/4 cup white sugar
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp dry mustard
1 can condensed tomato soup
1 tsp salt
1 cup Mazola oil
3/4 cup vinegar

2 TBS each finely chopped:
onion, green pepper and celery

Mix a small amount of onion, celery and green pepper with the dry ingredients. Add the oil and vinegar. Mix well and add the tomato soup. Mix and store in the refrigerator.

When I was writing down the above recipes for this page, it made me think of the old fashioned french dressing that had the oil on the top until you shook it. You can't buy it at the store anymore, so why not make it from scratch?

1 cup Mazola oil
1/2 cup vinegar
1/3 cup homemade ketchup
2 TBS paprika
4 TBS grated onion
juice of 1/2 lemon
2 tsp salt

Mix all ingredients together in a quart jar. Shake well before each use. Store in the refrigerator.
