Steak Rub Recipes

If you are looking for tips on grilling the perfect steak, I have 3 suggestions. A great rub, a delicious sauce and a steak 1-1/2 inches thick...

...and I have all three here on this page.

STEAK HOUSE RUB RECIPE

1 tsp dry mustard
2 tsp homemade garlic powder
1 tsp homemade onion powder
2 tsp coarsely ground black pepper
1 tsp sweet smoked Spanish paprika

Stir ingredients together in a small bowl and cover both sides of a steak generously with the rub. Allow to stand 45 minutes at room temperature with the rub before grilling.

HOMEMADE STEAK SAUCE RECIPE

2 TBS olive oil
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 TBS homemade brown sugar, packed
1 TBS sweet smoked paprika
1 TBS mustard powder
2 TBS homemade worcestershire sauce
1 cup cola (soda pop)
1 cup V-8 juice
3/4 cup homemade ketchup
1/4 cup bourbon
1/4 cup rice vinegar
1 TBS homemade soy sauce

In a heavy saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat and add onion and brown sugar. Mix well and add the paprika and dry mustard.

When onions are translucent, stir in remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil and simmer for 20 minutes or until thick. Makes approximately 3-1/2 cups.
