Love this easy patty melt recipe. Juicy and bursting with flavor with the addition of buttery sauteed onions and cheese. Just a few ingredients you probably already have on hand and you will have a tasty meal in no time.
This makes four sandwiches.
Mushroom Swiss Patty Melt
1 lb ground beef
4 swiss cheese slices
8 bread slices
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 cup sliced mushrooms
Form 4 burger patties from the ground beef and begin cooking in a pan on medium heat. Sprinkle patties with garlic powder and continue frying until you have achieved the desired doneness you want.
Meanwhile in another skillet add some oil and saute the onion and mushrooms together until tender. Remove from the heat.
Butter all eight slices of bread and lightly sprinkle with garlic powder. Place four slices (if they fit) butter-side down in a heavy skillet and top with the cooked burger. Top with cheese slice, sauteed onion mushroom mixture and finally a bread slice buttered-side up and cover pan.
When the slice of bread is golden brown, carefully turn over and repeat on the other side. When golden brown remove from the pan and serve with potato chips and a smile.
How about making a juicy sausage burger with sauteed peppers and onions?
