Garlic Butter Spread
EASY GARLIC BREAD SPREAD RECIPE
This is my favorite flavored butter recipe because this butter goes with so many things it would be impossible to list them all.
I usually triple the recipe, divide into equal portions and roll into logs – then freeze them.
That way you always have this on hand at a moments notice to put on fish, slip under the skin of chicken, or melt over a New York strip steak.
Just slice a loaf of homemade French bread horizontally (lengthwise)** and spread on this magical garlic butter (you may add shredded mozzarella on top – a must in Wisconsin). Bake it in the oven until golden brown. Out of this world.
1 cup homemade unsalted butter
1 TBS garlic, minced
1/4 cup parmesan cheese
1 TBS homemade garlic powder
1 tsp homemade Italian seasoning
1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
kosher salt to taste
1/4 tsp paprika
In a bowl, combine the butter, garlic and parmesan cheese. Season with the remaining ingredients and mix until smooth.
**You may also slice on the diagonal. It is the best garlic bread spread recipe – a keeper for sure.
Looking online, I found an awesome recipe from Macheesmo.com – and I wanted to share it with you. It’s fantastic.
HOMEMADE BUFFALO BREAD FROM SCRATCH
1 loaf French bread
1/2 cup (1 stick) homemade mayonnaise
1 stick (1/2 cup) homemade unsalted butter, softened
3 garlic cloves, minced
2 TBS homemade sour cream
8 ounces low-fat mozzarella, shredded
4 ounces blue cheese
1/2 cup homemade hot sauce (I recommend Frank’s hot sauce)
1 cup scallions, chopped
cooked and shredded chicken (optional)
PREHEAT oven to 425 degrees.
*The key part of this recipe is to toast the bread before you put on toppings. You don’t need to toast it for long, but you want to make sure that it has crisped up a bit on the top and bottom.
Cut the bread loaf down the middle and then toast the halves for 5 minutes. Don’t forget this or your final bread will be soggy which isn’t good at all.
Once your bread is done toasting, turn on your broiler on high to heat up. That’s how you finish the bread.
First take your hot sauce and spread it all over the bread surface. You want the bread pretty much covered in hot sauce. Frank’s is the perfect hot sauce for this.
Mix the mayonnaise, sour cream, butter, scallions, and garlic in a medium bowl. Make sure the butter is at room temperature and combine well to make sure it’s an even mixture to spread on the bread.
After it’s all mixed together, grate the mozzarella and toss that into the mix also.
Then take your topping mixture and spread it evenly over the bread. The key thing here is to not over-fill the bread. Don’t worry about using all the filling, you might have some leftover. If you are using shredded chicken, just mound a little bit over the mixture. Make sure there’s a nice even layer over the bread. It’s a pretty rich layer so there is no need to pile it super high.
As a final touch, and the thing that makes this all really buffalo, is to sprinkle on some blue cheese over the top. Again, no need to over do it.
To finish this guy off, BROIL the bread on high for about 2-3 minutes until the cheese is just starting to brown and the edges on the bread are good and toasted.
Once it comes out of the broiler, let it rest for a minute and then slice it up into sticks which makes it easier to serve.
It is so good. There you have it – my best garlic bread spread and cheese bread recipes.
