I love this caramel apple salad recipe. When I first tasted this dessert salad I thought I died and went to heaven. How could something so simple be so rich and delicious?
I tried this taffy apple salad with real whipped cream and it did not hold up very well. Oh well. It’s so worth it to made with Cool Whip extra creamy; it makes it downright sinful.
Caramel Apple Salad Recipe
TAFFY APPLE SALAD RECIPE
1 TBS flour
1/2 cup of white sugar
2 TBS apple cider vinegar
1 egg, beaten
1 (8oz) can crushed pineapple with juice
4 cups of granny smith (mix with red delicious) apples, diced
caramel sauce
1 (8oz) tub Extra Creamy Cool Whip
1 cup of chopped cashews
Cook the flour, sugar, vinegar, egg and pineapple until thick. Cool in the refrigerator overnight.
The next day, dice the apples and drizzle caramel over them and mix well; set aside. Mix the cooled (cooked) mixture with cashews and Cool Whip. Fold in diced caramel apple pieces. Get yourself a serving first because there will be nothing left over to enjoy. Note: It is better if the cashews are added about one hour before serving.
SNICKERS APPLE SALAD
1 (5oz) pkg instant vanilla pudding
12 ounces whipped topping, thawed (I use extra creamy Cool Whip)
4-6 granny smith and/or red Delicious apples, diced (do not peel)
4-6 Snicker candy bars, slightly frozen, then chopped
Garnish (optional)
caramel sauce
chopped peanuts
Mix the dry vanilla pudding mix with the whipped cream. Then fold in the remaining ingredients and mix well. Chill before serving for at least an hour. Drizzle caramel sauce over all and sprinkle with nuts; serve. Leftovers must be chilled also.
