Mexican Pizza Dip

Easy Taco Pizza Recipe

I call it Mexican Pizza Dip but this cold Mexican appetizer is known by many names, like Taco Pizza.  It is served cut into squares and is perfect finger food for any occasion.

Starts with a baked crescent roll crust, layered with cream cheese, then taco sauce, and topped with your favorite taco fillings like black olives, cheese, sour cream, jalapenos, etc.  Hungry yet?

Below that is a taco pizza recipe that is baked and has seasoned ground beef on it.  Make it any way you want.  This is something that is versatile, quick and delicious.

Cold Mexican Taco Pizza Appetizer

Base:

2 tubes refrigerated Crescent Rolls
1 brick (8oz) cream cheese, softened
1 cup sour cream
1 lb ground beef, cooked and drained
1 pkt taco seasoning

Topping Ideas:

taco sauce
chopped jalapenos
1 can black olives, sliced
shredded cheddar
shredded lettuce
chopped tomatoes
hot sauce
or use your favorite toppings…

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Roll out the crescent rolls and place in a baking sheet with rims that has been sprayed  with oil.  Pinch seams together so the crust is in one piece. Bake for 8 minutes or until light golden brown in color.  Remove from oven and cool.  This is the only baking you will do for this recipe.

Mix the cream cheese and sour cream together in a bowl and place in the refrigerator for a good 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, get the toppings you want to use together in bowls and after the crust has cooled and the cream cheese mixture has been in the refrigerator for 30 minutes it is time to finish it.

ASSEMBLY

On top of the crust, spread out the cream cheese mixture evenly to the sides of the crust.  Add some cooked homemade or store bought salsa evenly over that.

Then just add the toppings as you want it.  Shredded cheese, sliced black olives, corn (if using), chopped jalapenos – you get the picture.

CHILL

I would chill everything for a good two or three hours before serving.  Just cut into squares for serving and have hot sauce on the side.  Idea – You may just have the toppings in bowls and have everyone add their own toppings.

Hot Taco Pizza Recipe

Hot Taco Pizza Recipe

1 tube refrigerated pizza dough, baked and cooled on pizza pan

3/4 to 1 lb ground beef, cooked with taco seasoning and water
1 pkt taco seasoning
3/4 cup water

First bake the pizza dough and cool before topping with ingredients.

Second, fry the hamburger and drain.  Mix with taco seasoning and water.  Make sure hamburger soaks up the seasoning and water before you use it and set aside.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

The refried beans are spread evenly over the crust or you can just mix the salsa and the refried beans together and then spread it over the crust.  Anything to keep it simple right?
Now add the taco meat evenly over all.  Sprinkle everything with as much shredded cheddar as you want and top with crushed tortilla chips.

Bake for 14 minutes or so or until cheese has melted.

refried beans
cooked salsa
shredded cheddar cheese
crushed tortilla chips
chopped tomato
chopped onion or green onion
sliced black olives
shredded lettuce
hot sauce

SUGGESTIONS:  You may add the chopped onion and black olives on the pizza before you take it if you wish or just put it on the pizza after it comes out of the oven.

Serve with hot sauce, sour cream, and top with the chopped tomatoes and shredded lettuce before serving.

What I love is making this on tortillas that I browned quickly on both sides before loading with toppings.  (see image above)  It is a “personal pizza” just for you (and no rolling out dough).  Just serve with shredded lettuce, crushed tortillas, sour cream and hot sauce.
