Easy Hamburger Recipes

Need more homemade hamburger recipes? The same recipes for ground beef get boring, and it's nice to try something new.

My first recipe is an easy and basic recipe, and if you have never tried ground beef goulash, make it today. I always eat this with a peanut butter sandwich.

Homemade Hamburger GoulashAmerican Goulash

8 oz corkscrew (or elbow) macaroni
2 cups thinly sliced onions
2 TBS flour
1 TBS paprika
1-1/2 lbs hamburger
2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1 quart stewed tomatoes
1 cup thin sliced celery
Dash of homemade garlic powder, or to taste
pinch of parsley flakes

Brown ground beef; add flour, then remaining ingredients except noodles. Cook until celery and onions are tender, but not cooked to pieces. Cook noodles according to package directions, drain and add to hamburger mixture. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

I love this homemade hamburger recipe. I see so many variations, but in my neck of the woods that is how it is prepared. I always eat this with peanut butter sandwiches. Go figure.

Hamburger Steak Patties
1-1/2 lbs ground beef
1 tsp homemade garlic powder
1 tsp homemade onion powder
1/3 cup condensed French onion soup
1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
1 egg
salt and pepper to taste

2 cans (10.5 ounce) condensed French onion soup, divided
2 cans cream of mushroom soup
1 envelope dry onion soup mix
1 TBS Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup ketchup

2 TBS flour
1/4 cup water

2 cups fresh mushrooms
1 tsp butter
1 tsp oil

Mix the hamburger steak ingredients together and form into 6 patties. Place in a hot skillet and brown both sides. Lower the temperature and cook.

Meanwhile, in a saucepan, mix the condensed onion soup, cream of mushroom soup, dry onion soup mix, worcestershire sauce and ketchup together and bring to slow boil. Mix the flour and water together and slowly whisk into the hot mixture and cook for 2 minutes. Lower heat, stirring occasionally.

Saute the mushrooms in butter or oil and add to the gravy. Serve with garlic mashed potatoes.

A wonderful side-kick to the salisbury steak hamburger recipe....

Garlic Mashed Potatoes

2 lbs russet potatoes - washed, peeled and quartered
1/2 tsp salt
4 TBS cold butter, chopped
3/4 cup half-and-half, or heavy cream, warmed
2 garlic cloves, minced
salt and pepper to taste

Place potatoes in a large saucepan and cover with water. Add the salt and bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer approximately 15 minutes. When you can easily poke through them - drain well and place back in the hot pan so the water on the potatoes can evaporate. After a couple minutes transfer to a bowl.

In the bowl, place the chopped butter and minced garlic on the hot potatoes and mash using a potato masher until you have small chunks. Add the half-and-half and finish mashing until desired consistency is desired. You may also use a mixer for this step.

For a change, why not make Blue Cheese Mashed Potatoes? Just add 1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese.
