Best Crab Recipes

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think crab recipes?  I am daydreaming about the time I was pulling out a piece of meat the size of my thumb and soaking it with homemade butter.  Forget about a recipe, that was going directly in my mouth.
Are you lucky enough to have access to fresh crab all the time or do you use canned crab meat?  My crab meat recipes include appetizers and there are a few that are outstanding.  Ready to get started? I thought so…

Easy Crab Recipes

Best Crab Cake Recipe

1 can (6 oz) Bumble Bee fancy white crab meat
1 can (6 oz) Bumble Bee fancy lump crab meat
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup cornbread crumbs, bread crumbs or cracker crumbs
1/2 cup chopped green onion
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/2 tsp horseradish
pinch dried dill
1/2 tsp Cajun seasoning
1/4 tsp Old Bay seasoning
hot sauce
oil for frying

Lightly mix all ingredients together and form into patties and place on a plate. Put the patties in the freezer for 30 minutes to chill.  If they are not in patties the meat will warm up when you form them.  This will also help them not fall apart when turning over.

Heat some oil on the bottom of a cast iron pan or heavy skillet.  Make certain the cakes are golden brown on the bottom before carefully flipping (use your other hand to hold cake).  Continue to cook until the other side is golden brown.  Serve with lemon wedges and remoulade sauce.

Easy Crab Puffs from Scratch #MissHomemade

Easy Crab Puff Recipe
Filling
6 oz crab meat, drained and flaked if canned
1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
3 green onions, chopped
1 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Puff
1 cup water
1/2 cup butter
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup flour
4 eggs
Combine the first five ingredients and set aside.
PREHEAT oven to 400 degrees.
Combine water, butter and salt in a saucepan and bring to a boil.  Reduce heat to low and add flour, stirring vigorously until mixture leaves sides of pan and forms a smooth ball.  Remove from heat and cool slightly.

Beat in eggs, one at a time, with a wooden spoon until batter is smooth.  Add crab mixture and stir well.

Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls onto baking sheet.  Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes; reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake an additional 10 minutes.  Freeze baked or raw.  Or you may eat them up right there and then.
You may also use puff pastry and fill them with the crab mixture.
