Restaurant style cast iron steak. Stove to oven method is fantastic and if you cannot use the grill it is the perfect alternative.
Cast Iron Steak | Stove to Oven Method
2 inch thick steak
I could literally drink this… Marinate for one hour on the counter using the steps below.
BEST STEAK MARINADE (perfect for one 2 inch steak)
3 TBS Red Wine Vinegar
3 TBS Soy Sauce
3 TBS Worcestershire Sauce
3 drops Liquid Smoke
Mix the above ingredients together in a small bowl. Poke holes in your steak with a fork on both sides. Sprinkle both sides with garlic powder.
Place steak down in the marinade on a plate and spoon marinade on top. Let sit for 20 minutes, turn the steak over and repeat another 20 minutes. Do it one last time for 20 minutes and then it is ready to grill.
Double the recipe if you are marinating more than one steak.
Preheat cast iron pan with two tablespoons of oil on medium-high heat.
PREHEAT oven to 500 degrees.
Once the pan starts to smoke, slowly add the steak and set the timer for 3 minutes. After three minutes flip the steak over and sear another three minutes.
Place pan in the oven and lower the heat to 400 degrees.
Cook for additional 4 minutes for medium rare.
Remove from the oven and let sit for 10 minutes and serve.
