Grab this chocolate chip cookie bars recipe and make something that will bring a smile to all their faces. I think the cookie bars are better than the cookies because they are thicker, have more melted gooey chocolate and the texture is amazing.
1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
1 cup granulated white sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
2-1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp salt (omit if using salted butter)
1 cup semi sweet chocolate morsels
1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
PREHEAT oven to 350 degrees and spray a 9x13" pan with oil, set aside.
Cream the butter with the white and the brown sugar until fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time and mix well after each addition.
Add the flour, baking soda and salt and mix just until combined. Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using). Spread the thick batter evenly in the prepared baking dish and bake for 25-30 until golden brown.
