Hamburger Steak Recipe with Mushroom Gravy

2 lb ground chuck
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 TBS worcestershire sauce
1 packet dry onion soup mix
1 TBS oil

Beef Mushroom Gravy

3 cups thinly sliced mushrooms
1/2 cup thinly sliced onion
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
2 tsp worcestershire sauce
3 TBS cornstarch
3 cups beef broth

In a bowl mix the ground chuck with the garlic powder, onion powder, worcestershire sauce, dry onion soup mix.  Pat out 6 patties.

Steaks

Meanwhile heat a cast iron pan on medium heat and when hot add the tablespoon of oil for frying the hamburger steaks.  Add the patties and cook until brown on both sides; approximately 5 minutes.  Remove from the pan and set aside.

Beef Mushroom Gravy

Leave the drippings in the cast iron pan, add the mushrooms and onions – cook until tender; approximately 4 minutes.

In a medium bowl whisk the beef broth, cornstarch, worcestershire sauce, garlic and onion powder together and add to the cooked mushrooms and onions.  Stir to combine, lower the heat and simmer until mixture thickens.  If you want it thicker, add 1/2 tsp cornstarch.

Add the patties back to the skillet and cook another 5 minutes to reheat.  Ready to serve.
