Excellent old-fashioned popcorn ball recipe.This recipe for popcorn balls makes delicious treats & fun to make. I also include my homemade caramel popcorn recipe at the bottom of the page.
Homemade Popcorn Ball Recipe
OLD-FASHIONED POPCORN BALLS
3 quarts of warm popcorn
1/3 cup of white or dark corn syrup
2 cups white sugar
2/3 cup boiling water
2 tsp cream of tartar
2 TBS vinegar
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 TBS melted butter
1/8 tsp baking soda
Boil syrup, sugar and boiling water. Add cream of tartar and boil to soft crack stage or 275 degrees. Remove from heat and add vinegar, vanilla, melted butter and baking soda.
Pour over popcorn and quickly mix. Shape into balls immediately working quickly. Note: Or you can shape them around a candy cane at Christmas time, leaving the hook of the candy cane to serve as a handle for eating the popcorn ball.
