This red hot cinnamon apple recipe is as old as the hills and reminds me of when I was small.

OLD FASHIONED CINNAMON APPLES
2 cups white sugar
1 cup water
1/4 cup vinegar
1/2 pound cinnamon hearts or Red Hots
Peel and core sweet apples. Mix the syrup ingredients together and bring to a boil. Add the apple slices and boil until tender. Cinnamon syrup may be used again.
