I just put together some beverage recipes that I really enjoy; especially in the summer. When water doesn’t do the trick, I like to try something different.
Below are the favorites of mine that really “hit the spot” on a hot day (or any day). At the bottom of the page, I have a link to my tasty cocktail recipes. I used to bartend (a hundred years ago), and still remember how to make a wonderful drink.
These drink recipes are handy on hot summer days. Seriously, they are delicious and easy to put together.
Beverage Recipes
Chill your mugs and pour yourself a glass. Makes a great vodka lemonade. You can also use half lemonade and half iced tea for a wonderful change on an old fashioned drink.
OLD FASHIONED LEMONADE RECIPE
6 lemons
4 cups cold water
2 cups boiling water
1 cup sugar (more or less to taste)
1-2 lemons thinly sliced to float
ice
You can rim the glass with sugar.
Put the lemons in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds to warm them up a bit. Boil 2 cups of water together with the sugar. It dissolves the sugar for no grainy taste. Chill and serve.
Thirst quenching green apple lemonade recipe below.
This is a tasty twist on homemade lemonade. It’s very refreshing.
GREEN APPLE LEMONADE
3 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and cored
Juice of two large lemons
1 TBS white sugar
1 cup cold water
ice cubes
Extract the juice from the apples – using a juicer. Combine all ingredients in a glass pitcher and stir until sugar is dissolved.
This is one of my favorite recipes for iced tea.
BEST ICED TEA RECIPE
6 bags of Luzianne tea
3/4 cup white sugar, or to taste
2 cups boiling water
4 cups cool water
pinch of baking soda
Sprinkle the pinch of soda in the bottom of a large glass heat-proof pitcher; as this cuts down the bitter aftertaste. Pour in the boiling water and add the tea bags.
Allow to seep for 15 minutes. Remove the tea bags and stir in the white sugar until dissolved. Pour in the cool water and put in refrigerator until cold. Add slices of lemon when serving.
