My sweet crunchy snacks hit the cravings you may have for something sweet with a crunch. Savory and sweet it is love at first bite for popcorn, tortilla chips and more.
I love caramel (especially salted caramel), so I decided I would have to have a crunchy caramel snack that is easy to make and tastes as rich as caramels. I used it on tortilla chips as shown below - with a delicious dessert dip.
Dessert Nachos Recipe
Place tortilla chips on the lined baking sheet.
In a saucepan sprayed with oil, melt butter, syrup, brown sugar and vanilla together, stirring frequently so it doesn't burn.
Add the baking soda (it will foam) and stir well. Use a spoon and drizzle the sauce over the chips on the parchment lined baking sheet. Please see recipe ideas below.
Keep the caramel warm on the stove and use a spoon to drizzle the caramel over the chips on a parchment lined baking sheet instead of using the bag.
Sprinkle with 1/2 cup crushed cashews or salted peanuts while still warm and drizzle with chocolate (if using).
Instead of corn or golden syrup, try pure maple syrup and crushed pecans. Delicious.
For popcorn, pop 1 cup kernals
Remove the unpopped kernals and place the popped corn in a large bowl. Follow the directions above.
Dessert Dip Recipe
1 (8oz) brick of cream cheese
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 TBS vanilla extract
shaved chocolate, garnish optional
sliced almonds, garnish optional
Beat until fluffy and serve with the dessert nachos.
Drizzle with caramel sauce and chopped nuts.
