This sweet and sour cabbage soup makes the cold winter bearable. Beef broth and gravy with chunks of beef, cabbage and tomatoes. Wonderful with homemade bread.



Sweet and Sour Cabbage Soup
HOMEMADE CABBAGE SOUP

1 can (20oz) beef gravy
4 cups homemade beef broth
2 cups water
1 lb stewing beef, cut into bite-sized pieces
1/4 cup onion, minced
1/4 cup celery, grated

3 cups stewed tomatoes, cut up
1 TBS brown sugar
1 TBS vinegar
2 cups cabbage, chopped
2 cups carrots, sliced

In a large dutch oven or stock pot, combine ingredients and bring to a boil. Turn down and simmer for two hours, or until cabbage and beef are tender.

NOTE
This soup freezes well.

FRESH CHICKEN SALAD RECIPE

3/4 cup homemade mayonnaise
1/4 cup homemade cherry conserve
1/2 tsp curry powder
1/4 tsp salt
12 ounces crushed pineapple, well drained and squeezed dry
1/4 tsp lemon juice
2 cups finely chopped cooked chicken
1 cup finely diced celery
1/2 cup sliced green onion

First combine the mayonnaise, chutney, curry powder and salt. Add remaining ingredients - chill before serving.
