Homemade Italian Pasta Recipes

Authentic Italian Tomato Sauce Recipe


The best pizza sauce recipe. Actually, there are more than one. Simmering to perfection and perfectly seasoned, you can use this sauce for homemade ravioli too.

Pizza Sauce Recipe
THE BEST PIZZA SAUCE RECIPE

1 cup homemade tomato sauce
2 TBS white wine
1/4 cup olive oil
2 garlic cloves, minced
1-1/2 tsp homemade onion powder
1-1/2 tsp oregano
1-1/2 tsp basil
1/2 tsp rosemary
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 tsp homemade brown sugar, packed

Place all ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil and simmer until desired consistency if achieved. Remove from the heat to cool. Place in the refrigerator overnight for the best flavor.

NOTE
You may add homemade cayenne pepper if you want the crust spicy. You may also add fresh or dried basil and oregano in the crust.




The following homemade pizza sauce is a basic recipe and delicious. Pure and simple.

EASY PIZZA SAUCE

1 can (29 oz) tomato puree
4 TBS oil
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp dried oregano
1/4 tsp garlic powder

Combine all ingredients in a saucepan. Simmer gently, uncovered, for 30 minutes. Makes 3 cups.





Don't want sauce? Here's a delicious substitution that's fantastic.

PIZZA WITH GARLIC AND OIL

1/2 recipe for basic pizza dough
4 TBS olive oil
2 TBS minced garlic
1/4 tsp dried oregano

PREHEAT oven to 400 degrees.

Prepare and roll out the pizza dough as directed, but make it much thinner than a regular pizza. Place on a lightly oiled baking sheet. Brush with olive oil over the surface of the dough and sprinkle with garlic and oregano.

Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the garlic is browned and the dough is crispy. The crust should almost be done to almost the point of burning.

FEATURED RECIPE:


HOMEMADE STRAWBERRY MUFFIN RECIPE

2 cups flour
1 cup white sugar
1 TBS baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 cup milk or half-and-half
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 tsp strawberry extract (optional)
1-1/2 cups fresh strawberries, quartered

Top the muffins with my Old-Fashioned Cream Cheese Frosting
(only make half of the recipe)

whole strawberries, halved (garnish)
powdered sugar (garnish)

PREHEAT oven to 400 degrees. Grease or use paper lined muffin tin; set aside.

In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Combine eggs, milk, oil and strawberry extract. Stir into the dry ingredients and mix JUST until incorporated (there will be lumps). Fold in quartered strawberries.

Spoon into greased muffin tins and sprinkle tops lightly with white sugar. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.

Sprinkle lightly with powdered sugar and top with a dollop of cream cheese frosting. Nestle a halved strawberry on top and smile. You just created a "good thing."


Strawberry Banana Muffins
add 3/4 cups strawberries and
3/4 cup chopped banana


Strawberry Rhubarb Muffins
add 1 cup strawberries and
1/2 cup chopped rhubarb
