healthy dog treats

I have some dog treat recipes and cat treats for you to make at home.

I have several dog treat recipes to share with you. My black Pomeranian "Rocky" is a very important part of my life and he loves these!

If you want shapes, go to a hobby store and purchase a bone or tuna cut out, or just cut them in the pan.

Following are free dog treat recipes that are "Rocky Approved."

HOMEMADE DOG TREATS

My treat recipes make healthy and wholesome snacks for your favorite dog. They're economical and easy to prepare.

2 lbs chicken or beef liver
4 eggs
3 tablespoons black strap molasses
2 cups cornmeal
1 cup toasted wheat germ
2 chicken or beef bouillon cubes

PREHEAT oven to 400 degrees.

Puree all ingredients in a food processor or blender. Grease and flour two 9 inch square baking pans.

Bake for 30 minutes.

Slice into small treat-sized portions and store in small Ziploc bags in the refrigerator and freezer. (Some for now, some for later!)

These recipes make wonderful Christmas gifts for dogs and cats. Just buy a cheap dog bowl - fill with baked treats and then wrap. Following is wonderful dog biscuit recipe.

HOMEMADE DOG BISCUITS

2-1/2 to 2-3/4 cups of whole wheat flour
3/4 cup nonfat dry milk
1 egg
1/2 cup canola oil
2 beef bouillon cubes, dissolved in 3/4 cup boiling water
3 TBS brown sugar, packed

PREHEAT oven to 300 degrees.

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and stir until mixed thoroughly. Knead dough for one minute and roll out dough to 1/4 inches onto a floured surface.

Cut into bone shapes and place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake for 30 minutes and cool. Store in a sealed baggie.
