HOMEMADE WAFFLE RECIPES

Pull out these homemade waffle recipes anytime of the day and make someone very happy (including yourself). Crispy and crunchy waffles or just plain with fresh berries, homemade waffles are a tasty treat. So heat up the waffle iron...

RECIPE FOR HOMEMADE WAFFLES

2 cups flour
4 tsp (1 TBS plus 1 tsp) baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 TBS white sugar
2 eggs, separated
1-3/4 cups milk
1/2 cup butter, melted

PREHEAT the waffle iron.

Sift dry ingredients twice. To the milk, add well beaten egg yolks and melted butter. Combine the wet and dry ingredients. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites and bake in hot well greased waffle iron.

BLACK WALNUT WAFFLE RECIPE

1-3/4 cups flour
1/2 cup cornmeal
4 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp salt
1-3/4 cups milk
2 eggs
2 TBS butter, melted
1/2 cup chopped black walnuts

Sift flour, measure and sift with baking powder and salt. Add cornmeal. Add milk to well beaten egg yolks and add to dry ingredients. Add butter and nuts. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in well greased hot waffle iron.





CRISP CRUNCHY WAFFLES

1-1/2 cups flour
1 TBS baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3 TBS butter, melted
4 ounces cream cheese OR 1/2 cup whipping cream
1-1/2 cups milk
3 eggs

Sift flour before measuring. Add salt and baking powder and soft together several times. Cream cheese thoroughly, or if cream is used, whip until stiff.

Add milk slowly, blending well. Add beaten egg yolks. Combine the wet and dry ingredients. Add the melted butter and fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in hot greased waffle iron. The batter may be used immediately or it can stand overnight in the refrigerator. I love the next homemade waffle recipe.





DINNER BELL WAFFLES

2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
2 eggs
1-1/2 cups milk
3 TBS bacon drippings
1/2 cup ham (or bacon), finely diced
1/4 cup grated cheese

To well beaten egg yolks, add milk. Add flour sifted with baking powder. Mix in bacon drippings, ham and cheese. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in a moderately hot waffle iron.





SPICED WAFFLES

Waffles
1 cup flour
4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
2 TBS sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1-1/2 cups milk
1/4 cup butter, melted
2 eggs

Sift dry ingredients together. Add milk to well beaten egg yolks. Add to dry ingredients. When blended, add butter and fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in well greased preheated waffle iron.


Honey Butter
1 cup honey
4 TBS butter, melted
1/2 tsp cinnamon

Melt butter and add cinnamon and honey - over low heat. Serve hot with waffles.

FRESH CHICKEN SALAD RECIPE

3/4 cup homemade mayonnaise
1/4 cup homemade cherry conserve
1/2 tsp curry powder
1/4 tsp salt
12 ounces crushed pineapple, well drained and squeezed dry
1/4 tsp lemon juice
2 cups finely chopped cooked chicken
1 cup finely diced celery
1/2 cup sliced green onion

First combine the mayonnaise, chutney, curry powder and salt. Add remaining ingredients - chill before serving.
