HOMEMADE PET FOOD RECIPES

Homemade Flea Control

I offer many homemade pet food recipes. Cat treats and dog treats, cat food and dog food, hummingbird nectar and even a homemade hummingbird cake for us. Horse treats and bird treats too. Your pets will love you for it.

Homemade Pet Food Recipes
HOMEMADE CAT TREATS (Kitty Krunchers)

1 small can of tuna in oil
3/4 cup flour
water to moisten

PREHEAT oven to 180 degrees

Place first two ingredients in a food processor and pulse until well combined. Add a little water to form firm dough so you can roll the dough into balls.

Measure out teaspoons of dough and roll into small balls. Flatten them with your hand and put on a greased cookie sheet. Bake for 20 minutes and when done, just open the oven door and let treats cool to room temperature in the oven.

When cooled it is "treat time!" Store in an airtight container in the pantry.

Homemade Horse Treat Recipes
Here's another favorite homemade pet food recipe. It is a great horse treat recipe that they love to eat (other than carrots or apples). These homemade horse treats are the bomb; and they will come running every time.

HOMEMADE HORSE TREATS

1 cup flour
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup carrots, chopped
1/2 cup apples, chopped
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
2 tsp vegetable oil
1/2 cup molasses
1 bag of hard peppermint candies

PREHEAT oven to 325 degrees.

Mix above ingredients (except the peppermints) in a large bowl and stir until well combined. Rub butter or oil on your hands and form 1 inch balls. Press down with the heel of your hand; to look like a cookie.

Bake at 325 degrees for 25 minutes. As soon as they come out of the oven, push one peppermint candy in each of the horse treats. Let them sit on the counter overnight to dry.

Bird Treat Recipe
I have a wonderful little recipe for your bird friends. It's a cake and you can hang from trees in mesh bags or place in the bird feeder.

BIRD TREATS

1 cup lard
1 cup homemade crunchy peanut butter
1/2 cup honey
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup oats
2 eggs

PREHEAT oven to 350 degrees.

Mix all ingredients and pour into a greased 9 inch square pan. Bake for 30-40 minutes for until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
