The homemade marinara makes Italian dishes "pop" with fresh tomato flavor. This does NOT come from a can. Offering homemade pasta recipes, fresh tomato sauce recipe and many more for you to try.

Homemade Marinia Sauce
MARINARA SAUCE RECIPE

3 TBS oil
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 carrots, finely chopped
2 celery stalks, finely chopped
3-1/2 cups (28 oz) plum tomatoes
1 tsp salt

1/4 tsp homemade garlic powder
1/4 tsp homemade onion powder
1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp oregano

Heat oil in heavy skillet over medium. Add onions, garlic, carrots, celery, and cook - stirring occasionally, until onions are transparent.

Add tomatoes, crushing them in your hand as you put them in. Add the juice from the can. Bring to a boil and add the remaining ingredients.

Reduce heat and simmer uncovered, for 2 hours. Stir occasionally. Makes 4 cups. This is a wonderful base for seafood sauce.

2 TBS butter, melted

4 garlic cloves
1/2 cup Romano cheese, grated
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp oregano
1/4 tsp pepper

Place in a blender, food processor or use a mortar and pestle and process until it becomes a smooth paste. Makes 3 cups.
