This recipe for homemade dog biscuits is easy to make and the pups love them. I offer homemade cat treats and don't forget horse treats and our feathered friends.
Pull out these homemade cat treat recipes and make your own cat treats. So much better for them than ones you buy at the store. Doesn't cost much to make and cats go crazy for them.
You can also make these for dogs too. Just roll them a little bit bigger.
SALMON CAT TREATS
3 cups whole wheat flour 1/4 cup cornmeal 1/4 cup parmesan cheese 2 tsp parsley flakes 1 tsp oregano 1 or 2 cans salmon, drained 1 egg 1 TBS olive oil (or vegetable oil)3/4 cup water
PREHEAT oven 350 degrees. Spray a cookie sheet with vegetable oil.
Combine all dry ingredients together and mix well. Beat the egg with the oil and add to the mixture. Add the water and mix well. Roll into 1/4 inch balls, then flatten on the baking sheet with a glass or fork.
Bake for 30 minutes and cool. Store in tightly sealed containers in a cool, dry place.
Mix all ingredients together. Place 2 TBS oil in a skillet and brown all sides. Chop into pieces and serve.
KITTY CHICKEN CRUNCHIES
1-1/2 cups whole wheat flour 1-1/2 cups rye flour 1-1/2 cups brown rice flour (or all purpose) 1 cup wheat germ 1 tsp dried kelp or alfalfa 4 TBS vegetable oil 1-1/2 cups chicken broth (beef broth works too) 1 lb ground chicken 1-1/2 TBS brewer’s yeast
PREHEAT oven to 350 degrees. Grease a cookie sheet.
Mix the dry ingredients together first. Add the vegetable oil, broth and ground chicken. Mix well and roll out dough to 1/8 inch thick on a floured surface. Cut out shapes or just place the rolled dough on the greased cookie sheet and bake until golden brown. Bread into bite-sized pieces (if you did not cut them out). Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
FISH BALL TREATS
16 ounces canned tuna in oil, drained 2 ounces cooked herring, skin removed 3 baby carrots, cooked 2 TBS bread crumbs or oatmeal 3 TBS grated cheese 2 tsp brewer’s yeast several pinches of catnip 1 beaten egg 2 TBS tomato paste (not ketchup) PREHEAT oven to350 degrees. Spray a cookie sheet with vegetable oil
Mash the carrots and add to the remaining ingredients. Roll into small balls and place on cookie sheet. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown and firm feeling. Cool completely.
3/4 cup homemade mayonnaise 1/4 cup homemade cherry conserve 1/2 tsp curry powder 1/4 tsp salt 12 ounces crushed pineapple, well drained and squeezed dry 1/4 tsp lemon juice 2 cups finely chopped cooked chicken 1 cup finely diced celery 1/2 cup sliced green onion
First combine the mayonnaise, chutney, curry powder and salt. Add remaining ingredients - chill before serving.
