EASY APPLE RECIPES
Before I give you my easy apple recipes, I want to give you some quick fun apple facts. There are over 7000 apple varieties worldwide. It would take you more than 19 years and you would never eat the same kind twice. No matter which kind is your favorite - look for apples that are firm and bruise free. Following are great choices for my easy apple recipes.

BRAEBURN: crisp, firm, sweet, tart and spicy. They are a excellent eating apple; and make good pies, sauces and cider. EMPIRE: these apples are a hybrid of MacIntosh and Red Delicious. They are juicy, soft and sweet. Empires are a very good choice for a eating apple and make a good pie. Stay away from making sauce and cider with this one. FUJI: they are extra crisp and sweet-tart. Excellent eating apple, but not a good choice for pie or sauces. It's good for cider. GALA: mildly sweet, fruity and thin skinned. Gala is another great choice for a eating apple. It is good for a pie but there are better choices out there. It is good for sauce and cider. GOLDEN DELICIOUS: firm, very sweet, juicy and best when kept refrigerated. Very good eating apple and excellent for pies, sauce and cider. GRANNY SMITH: crunchy, tart and juicy. They are a very good eating apple and are excellent for pies. Very good for sauce but stay away when making cider. MACINTOSH: tender and sweet. They are a excellent choice for an eating apple. They make very good sauce. They make good pies and cider. RED DELICIOUS: juicy and very sweet. They are a great eating apple, but use another kind for baking and cider. ROME: grainy, sweet, soft and juicy. They are not a good eating apple, but are very good for pies. They are excellent for baked apples and make good sauce. Stay away from this apple if you want to make cider. WINESAP: firm, tart, sweet-sour contrast. They make a good eating apple and are excellent for pies, baking, sauce and cider. Another tip: If you do not have tart apples to bake with, use the sweeter apples and sprinkle lemon juice over them for tartness. Works every time. Now as I promise....my easy apple recipes.
CINNAMON APPLE RECIPE
One of my homemade and easy apple pie recipes include this gem.
HOMEMADE APPLE PIE
CRUST: 2 cups flour 1 tsp salt 3/4 cup shortening 4 TBS cold water (may need more to moisten)
FILLING: 7 cups apples, peeled and thinly sliced 2 TBS lemon juice 1 cup sugar 1/8 tsp salt 1/4 cup flour 1 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp nutmeg 2 TBS butter 1 egg yolk 1 TBS water
In a bowl, combine flour and salt; cut in shortening. Gradually add the cold water 1 tablespoon at a time tossing with a fork until it forms a ball. Chill dough for 30 minutes. PREHEAT oven to 425 degrees, and you will need a 9" pie plate.
On a floured surface, roll out 1/2 of the dough into a 10 inch circle. Place into your pie pan. In a bowl, toss apples with lemon juice. Combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt and nutmeg - add the apples and toss together. Pour into the pie crust and dot with butter. Roll out the other 1/2 of the dough for the top of the pie and cut slits in the top. Place over filling, seal and flute edges. Beat egg yolk and water and brush over pastry. Bake for 15 minutes. Then lower the oven temperature to 350 degrees and bake for another 40-45 minutes or until the apples are cooked and tender, and the crust is golden brown. Delicious easy apple recipe.

CARAMEL DIP FOR APPLES
16 caramels 1 (8oz) pkg cream cheese, softened 1/8 to 1/4 cup water 1 tsp pure vanilla extract 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
In a medium saucepan (or in the microwave), melt the caramels with water - stirring frequently. Remove from heat. In another bowl, beat the cream cheese and sugar. Fold in the warm caramel and serve immediately.
BUTTERSCOTCH APPLE PECAN COBBLER
12 oz pkg butterscotch chips 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed 1/4 cup flour 1/2 tsp cinnamon 2-1/2 lbs tart apples, peeled and diced
TOPPING:
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed 1/2 cup flour 4 TBS butter 1 cup pecans, chopped 3/4 cup oatmeal
PREHEAT oven to 375 degrees.
In a small bowl - combine chips, brown sugar, flour and cinnamon; set aside. Place apples in a 9x13 pan and sprinkle with the chip mixture. Bake for 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, combine the flour and brown sugar; cut in the butter until crumbly. Stir in the pecans and oats; and sprinkle over the baked apple mixture.
Bake another 30 to 40 minutes longer until the apples are tender. Cool slightly and serve with ice cream or whipped cream. I love this easy apple recipe in the winter.
Make this applesauce in a slow cooker. Double or triple the recipe. No need to smash the apples because the slow cooking will do it for you. This easy apple recipes takes approximately 3-4 hours to cook on high.
HOMEMADE APPLESAUCE RECIPE
4 apples - peeled, cored and sliced 1/2 cup water 1/4 cup white sugar 1/2 tsp cinnamon
Add the apples and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Simmer over low heat, stirring occasionally for 20 minutes. Add the sugar and stir until it dissolves. Add the cinnamon and stir well. Use this easy apple recipe for the cake below. Serve warm over ice cream or refrigerate.
HOMEMADE APPLE SAUCE CAKE RECIPE
2 cups cake flour 1/2 cup butter 1 cup white sugar 2 eggs, beaten 1/2 cup nuts (your favorite) 1 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp nutmeg 1 tsp cinnamon 1 cup unsweetened applesauce (recipe above)
PREHEAT oven to 350 degrees and grease a loaf pan.
Cream butter and sugar together for 5 minutes until light and fluffy. Add eggs and nuts; mix well. Sift the cake flour, white sugar, baking soda, nutmeg and cinnamon together three times (secret to make perfect cake).
Add dry ingredients alternately with applesauce to creamed mixture, beating well after each addition. Pour into prepared baking pan and bake for one hour. Serve with homemade caramel sauce.

APPLE FRITTERS
1 cup flour 1-1/2 tsp baking powder 3 TBS sugar 1/4 tsp salt 1 egg, beaten 1/3 cup milk 1 TBS cinnamon 1/8 tsp nutmeg 1 cup chopped apples 1 cup canola oil powdered sugar for dusting
Measure and sift all the dry ingredients. Beat the eggs and milk together and slowly incorporate the dry ingredients. Add the chopped apples. In a heavy skillet or cast iron pan, heat the oil over medium high heat. Drop a teaspoon full of batter into the hot oil, and fry until golden brown --3 to 4 minutes on each side. Remove fritter and drain on paper bag or towel. Cool and sprinkle with powdered sugar or roll in granulated sugar. NOTE: You can eliminate the sugar and serve these fritters with pork roast. Awesome easy apple recipe.
RECIPE FOR APPLE CAKE
Slice and dice 4 cups apples; pour in 2 cups sugar and mix. Add 2 eggs and beat well.
Then beat in:
2 cups flour 2 tsp baking soda 4 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp salt
PREHEAT oven to 350 degrees.
Pour into a greased 9x13 pan. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes. Serve with warm sauce:
SAUCE: Combine; 1 cup brown sugar, packed 1 cup white sugar 1/2 cup flour 1 cup water
Cook over low heat and bring to a boil. Add 1 cup butter and 1 tsp vanilla and a dash of salt. Stir until butter is dissolved.Pour over a slice of the cake. This is so moist and again, another easy apple recipe.

TAFFY APPLE SALAD RECIPE
1 TBS flour 1/2 cup of white sugar 2 TBS apple cider vinegar 1 egg, beaten 1 (8oz) can crushed pineapple with juice 4 cups of granny smith apples, diced 1 cup of cashews 2 cups homemade whipped cream
Cook the flour, sugar, vinegar, egg and pineapple until thick. Cool in the refrigerator overnight.
Mix together the cooked mixture with apples, cashews and whip cream. It is better if the cashews are added about one hour before serving.
SNICKER APPLE SALAD
1 (4oz) pkg instant vanilla pudding 2/3 cup milk 2 cups whipped cream 4-6 granny smith apples, diced (do not peel) 4-6 Snicker bars, cut up
Beat the pudding and milk together until creamy. Then fold in the remaining ingredients and mix well. Chill before serving and leftovers must be chilled also. Addicting easy apple recipe.
HOT APPLE CIDER
6 cups natural pressed apple cider (no sugar added) 1/4 cup pure maple syrup 2 cinnamon sticks 6 whole cloves 6 whole allspice berries 1 orange peel, cut into strips 1 lemon peel, cut into strips 2 McIntosh apples, chopped in small pieces
Pour the apple cider and pure maple syrup in a sauce pan. Add the cinnamon sticks, cloves, allspice berries, orange and lemon peel in the center of a washed square of cheesecloth - fold up the sides of the cheesecloth to enclose the bundle and tie with kitchen string. Drop this spice bundle in with the apple cider mixture. (You may just let the spices float in the cider if you do not have a cheesecloth. Both ways are wonderful.) Place the pan over moderate heat for 5-10 minutes, or until the cider is very hot but NOT boiling. Remove from the heat and discard the spice bundle. Add small pieces of apple in the bottom of the mug and pour in the hot cider. Garnish with a fresh cinnamon stick if desired and you have one delicious easy apple recipe to share with friends and family.
APPLE BARS
2 cups shortening 1 cup hot water 8 large apples, sliced 1 cup sugar 1 tsp cinnamon 1 tsp salt 3 cups flour, plus
PREHEAT oven to 375 degrees and you will need a jelly roll pan.
Mix shortening, salt, flour and hot water for the crust. Roll out 1/2 of the dough and press into the bottom of the jelly roll pan. Mix apples, sugar and cinnamon together and spread on top of the crust. Roll out the other half of the dough to fit the top. Sprinkle dough with sugar. Bake for 1 hour or until apples are tender. Top this easy apple recipe with homemade whipped cream.

DUTCH APPLE PIE
your favorite homemade pie crust 5-1/2 cups cooking apples, sliced 1 TBS lemon juice 1/2 cup white sugar 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed 3 TBS flour 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp nutmeg
Topping: 3/4 cup flour 1/4 cup white sugar 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed 1/3 cup butter 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped - optional homemade caramel sauce for garnish whipped cream, for garnish
PREHEAT the oven to 375 degrees.
Fit the pie crust into your pie pan. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, lemon juice, both sugars, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg. Fill the pie crust with this mixture. To make the topping - with a pastry blended or fork, mix together the flour, both sugars and the butter until coarsely crumbled. Sprinkle over the apples. Bake the pie for 50 minutes. Serve warm or cold.

4 granny smith apples, sliced 1 cup brown sugar, packed 1 cup flour 1 cup rolled oats 1-1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp nutmeg 1/2 cup butter, frozen and grated with cheese grater
PREHEAT oven to 375 degrees.
Place the apples in the bottom of an 8" or 9" square baking dish. In a separate bowl combine the rest of the ingredients, and spread the mixture over the apples. Bake for 35 minutes. Serve warm with homemade vanilla ice cream.
APPLE BANANA BREAD RECIPE
1/2 cup butter 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed 1/2 cup white sugar 2 eggs 3 TBS sour cream 2 ripe bananas, mashed 1 tsp pure vanilla extract 2 cups flour 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp cinnamon 2 apples, cored and chopped 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
PREHEAT oven to 350 degrees, and grease a loaf pan.
Cream together butter and both sugars, and then the eggs. Stir in the sour cream, bananas and vanilla extract. In a separate bowl combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and cinnamon. Gradually add this to the creamed mixture. Gently fold in the apples and walnuts. Spoon into the loaf pan and bake for approximately 1 hour. Serve with whipped cream and you'll be making this easy apple recipe all the time.
