Black Forest Cake Recipe
OLD FASHIONED BLACK MAGIC CAKE

1-3/4 cups flour
2 cups white sugar
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 cup strong brewed coffee
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 tsp homemade pure vanilla extract

PREHEAT oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour two 9 inch cake pans, or one 9x13 inch pan.

Combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder and salt in a large bowl and make a well in the center. Add the eggs, coffee, buttermilk, oil and vanilla.

Beat for two minutes on medium (batter will be thin). Pour into prepared pans and bake for 30 to 40 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes and then remove pans and finish cooling on a wire rack. Fill or frost.

The cake above has whipped cream on the tops with shaved chocolate pressed into the sides and on top. Bing cherries adorn it.
