Better than Sex Cake Recipe

This better than sex cake is so creamy and decadent - a wonderful homemade dessert recipe that will disappear fast.

I have two variations of this better than sex cake dessert. People have various ideas on what Better than Sex Cake is. 

One is with a yellow cake and pineapple; the other is with German chocolate cake and crushed candy bars. I will give you BOTH recipes because they deserve to be made...

Better than Sex Cake

Either way you make it, you will have a scrumptious dessert to serve to your family and friends.


1 homemade German Chocolate Cake

1 can homemade sweetened condensed milk

1 jar caramel or butterscotch sauce

1 (8oz) tub of frozen whipped cream, thawed**
2 Heath candy bars, frozen and chopped

Bake the German chocolate cake in three 9" cake pans. You may also bake it in a 9x13 pan.

Let the cake cool and with a wooden spoon handle punch holes about one inch apart over the entire cake(s). Pour the whole can of sweet milk into the holes. Next pour the entire jar of caramel topping over the cake. Spread the Cool Whip over the caramel topping. Last but not least - sprinkle grated Heath bars over all.

You may also sprinkle roughly chopped cashews over the caramel sauce and top with whip cream.  Thanks Kari!

Refrigerate overnight before serving. This is very important for the flavor of the dessert.

**Homemade whipped cream does not hold up as well as Cool Whip does for both of these recipes.

This is the version of my "Better Than Sex Cake" - it starts with a yellow cake. You may also use a homemade French vanilla cake, it's excellent too.


1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup homemade unsalted butter
4 eggs
2 egg yolks
1 TBS pure vanilla extract
2-3/4 cup flour
3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1-3/4 cup milk

PREHEAT oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour two 9" cake pans and line the bottom of each pan with waxed paper.

Measure and sift the dry ingredients together.

In a mixing bowl, cream the shortening and butter together. For the lightest cake texture, be sure to cream the shortening and sugar very well, 2-3 minutes if using a stand mixer. Add the vanilla and eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the flour mixture (1/2 cup at a time) alternatively with the milk; beginning and ending with the flour mixture.

Pour evenly into the prepared pans and bake for 45 minutes; or until the toothpick inserted in the middle of the cake comes out clean. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes and then on a wire rack until completely cooled.


1 baked yellow cake in a 9x13 pan, recipe above
1 (20oz) can crushed pineapple with juice
3/4 cup white sugar
2 (3.5oz) pkgs instant vanilla pudding mix
1-1/2 cups milk
1-1/2 cups evaporated milk
8 oz tub whipped cream, thawed
3/4 cup flaked coconut, toasted
1/2 cup pecans, chopped

While the cake is baking, combine pineapple with juice and 3/4 cup sugar in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat for 20 minutes until thick and syrupy, stirring occasionally.

Pierce top of hot cake with fork at 1 inch intervals. Pour pineapple mixture over cake. Cool completely.

Beat pudding mix with both milks until smooth. Spread pudding over cooled cake. Spread whipped cream over top of cake. Chill cake for 24 hours for the best flavor. Sprinkle with coconut and pecans just before serving.
