BEST SNACK RECIPES

Easy Snack Recipes

Following are some of my best snack recipes. Snacks are often called "junk food" because they typically have little or no nutritional value.

Today, people are more health-minded and make a conscious effort to eat more healthy, natural snacks – such as fruit, vegetables and nuts; avoiding high-calorie, low-nutrient junk food.

My homemade recipes do not include all of the additives and preservatives that are added to commercial products and they are easy to make.

CORN DOG MUFFINS

Homemade Beef Jerky Recipe

Feel a snack attack coming? This is a delicious and my best snack recipe for beef or venison jerky. You'll never buy store bought again after making this, and you'll also save big time money. Jerky sells for $14.00 a pound. So if you find London broil or flank steaks on sale, grab some and make this jerky. NOTE: You can also purchase beef sliced for stir fry in the meat department; this saves a lot of time slicing meat.

4 lbs London broil or flank steaks
2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
2 tsp chili powder
2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp onion powder
1 tsp Hungarian hot paprika, more if you want it hot
1 tsp liquid smoke
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup homemade soy sauce
1/4 cup homemade teriyaki sauce
1/2 cup homemade worcestershire sauce
3 TBS hot sauce (or to taste)

Trim fat from the meat and slice into 4 inch strips - The meat pieces should be between 1/4-1/2 inch thick. It is easier to slice this meat if it is partially frozen. Pound meat lightly and set aside.

Combine the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Pour this marinade over the strips of meat. Cover and refrigerate over night.

In the morning, line cookie sheets with foil. Place strips of meat on the sheets - do not overlap the meat.

PREHEAT oven to 150-175 degrees; or the lowest temperature it has. Bake for 3 hours; turn the meat over and bake for an additional 3 hours. Jerky is cooked when meat is dried out. Enjoy.

Another easy and one of my best snack recipes.

WHITE CHOCOLATE MIX

1 lb white chocolate bark
6 cups rice cereal squares, (Crispex or Rice Chex)
3 cups toasted oat cereal
2 cups thin pretzel sticks
2 cups cashews
6 oz M & M's or Reese's peanut butter cups

Melt the white chocolate over low heat and stir until it is all melted. Add the remaining ingredients together in a very large bowl. Pour the chocolate over the cereal and mix well. Line your counter with wax paper and turn it over to dry for 30 minutes. It's addicting!

This snack recipe is a well loved snack. Enjoy.

PERFECT RICE KRISPIE TREATS

11-1/2 cups Rice Krispies
1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 stick homemade unsalted butter
16 oz bag of mini marshmallows
24 oz milk chocolate chips

Butter a 9x13 pan.

SLOWLY melt the butter (if it turns brown - treats will be dry). Next add the marshmallows and vanilla; SLOWLY melt them in with the butter. Cook this for two minutes, and remove from the heat.

Add the cereal and mix it all together. Spray your hands with vegetable oil and press into the pan. Melt the chocolate and spread over the top.

This is another one of my best snack recipes that is delicious and addicting.

PUPPY CHOW

9 cups Chex cereal (any kind will work)
1 cup chocolate chips, melted
1/2 cup smooth peanut butter
1/4 cup homemade unsalted butter, melted
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1-1/2 cups powdered sugar, sifted

Microwave the butter, chocolate chips and peanut butter in the microwave on high for 1 minute. Stir and microwave for another 30 seconds. Add the vanilla and stir.

Measure the Chex cereal in a large bowl. Pour the warm chocolate mixture over the cereal and stir until evenly coated. Place in a 2 gallon resealable bag, (it is very easy if you use a clean trash bag) and add the powdered sugar; shake. Spread on waxed paper to cool. Store in resealable bags.
